Almost the end of the year
Happy weekend all!
Here’s what’s happened since we last updated our website.. Dot points are pretty cool.
- The World Is A Picture video was released
- Only Sparrows tour wrapped up in Western Australia
- Wrapt In Music interviewed me about FOJP
- Josh finished writing his tour diary on the JP forum
- Pyke headed to the UK for the Sparrows & Crows tour with Passenger
- A Josh Pyke app was released (for iPhone and Android)
- Josh was announced on the Corinbank Festival lineup
- Josh made it into the Top 50 in Channel [V]‘s Oz Artist of the Year
- Josh told us Why Music Matters
- Josh wrote an update on Busking For Change including his visit to Eastern Arnhem Land for the Garma Festival.
A few weeks ago, our friends at Ivy League Records unleashed the video for Punch in the Heart, featuring the lovely Katy Steele (her part was shot in New York) I’d also recommend checking out the producer’s other work under Shoot The Player.
Last weekend Josh Pyke played at the Gorgeous Festival in Adelaide. And on the Sunday, the 2011 ARIAs took place. Josh was nominated for Best Male Artist and while he didn’t take home the ARIA, we congratulate him on the nomination! (And congratulations to Gotye for winning the award)
Josh casually mentioned the Rockwiz Christmas Tour rehearsals on Facebook the other week. For those who have snapped up tickets, let us know if Josh makes a special appearance. (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide…)
As the year draws to a close, it’s time to starting voting in all the album polls that suddenly appear. We suggest voting for Only Sparrows in Triple J’s Albums of the year poll and Mess+Noise’s Readers Poll under Aus album of the year. Don’t forget Triple J Hottest 100 voting will be here in no time!
One final point, 2012 will mark six years of FOJP! We’ve got some ideas for next year, and it’s my aim that FOJP will continue to grow, and maintain a great connection with Josh Pyke fans. However, being realistic I’ve come to notice over the last few months, FOJP has gone a little quiet due to my other commitments. SO, I’m contemplating expanding the FOJP team, maybe getting one or two people to help me out. There’s only a few requirements…
1. Be a fan of Josh Pyke’s music. (duh?)
2. Like what FOJP do, and contribute ideas on how we can be better! (and how we can take over the world..)
3. Want to be involved for the love of music, and respect Josh, his team, and the fans. (we like being nice.)
If you’re at all interested, shoot me an email at friendsofjoshpyke@gmail.com and introduce yourself!
You’ll hear from FOJP once more before the year is up, a 2011 year in review post is coming soon!
Until then, see you on Facebook and Twitter.
