An Open Letter To Josh Pyke

Dear Josh Pyke,

Last week I renewed the website domain name, and it got me thinking. Next year will mark five years of Friends of Josh Pyke. I guess there’s really just one thing to say, thank you.

Firstly, thank you for the music.

Thank you for your support of Friends of Josh Pyke, from the initial approval in the beginning to your continual support over the years. While your music and support was enough for us to want to continue, you had to go and make things even better. How many people can say their favourite musician has done the following? Given them a shout out on Triple J radio during the Hottest 100, included their name in the thankyou section of an album’s linear notes, mentioned them in an ARIA awards acceptance speech, and flown them to Sydney to attend a gig? I can!

Thanks for being nice. I’ve heard the saying; never meet your favourite band/musician because they might not live up to your expectations. But you surpassed them. Something else that has been important for me over the four years is your support of my adventures. From my band drawings back in the day to inspiring me to want to get involved in the music industry, and your encouragement along the way! It means a lot.

Keep making music Josh, and Friends of Josh Pyke will be here to support you.

I’ll end this by saying, bring on album number three!
