An Overdue Update
Apologies for the lack of updates recently, it’s been over a month – wow. Though, before you get angry i think i have a valid excuse, i’ve been busy working, as well as packing and getting ready to move to Melbourne tomorrow (from Perth) It’s also my birthday today, so you have to be nice…
Anyway, moving on January saw Josh Pyke embark on his Solo Tour taking Russell Crawford along for the ride. For those lucky enough to attend why not email us with your photos and reviews? friendsofjoshpyke@gmail.com
The Solo Tour has gone really well, with most shows selling out or being close to. There are four shows left which will take place at the end of this month and i’ve been advised they may have all sold out, so be quick to check if you’re yet planning to go.
Although there hasn’t really been an official announcement yet those keeping an eye on Josh Pyke’s Myspace page would have noticed a string of UK dates added. They are as follows:
UK Tour
15th March – Academy 2, Bristol
16th March – Tabernacle, London
17th March – Academy 2, Oxford
18th March – Arts Centre, Norwich
19th March – King Tuts, Glasgow
20th March – The Duchess, York
21st March – Hare and Hounds, Birmingham
22nd March – Academy 2, Manchester
More information should be released shortly but for those eager to find out more perhaps check the venue websites.
What do you get when bring together a rock star, a grunge boy turned alt country sentimental dude, a maritime man and a champion songwriter? Basement Birds of course! More details to be released shortly but become a fan on Facebook and keep an eye on the website which will be launched shortly. Josh is also tweeting quite a bit about Basement Birds. And, according to Catherine Haridy Management “Basement Birds – the super group and joint brain child of Kav Temperley, Kevin Mitchell aka Bob Evans, Josh Pyke and Steve Parkin will be revealing a collection of songs that will be able via download only.”
Earlier this month, Josh started a myspace page for his old band, An Empty Flight. Tracks are available for streaming on the page, with free downloads available from MP3.com.au – those that want to hear even more can buy the Art vs Commerce EP through Waterfront records. With a new myspace page I had hoped Josh would upload some old bands photos, unfortunately not, so here’s one I’ve taken from MP3.com.au
Well, that’s it for now. I hope 2010 is treating you all well so far and don’t forget you can join us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
