Dear Friends of Josh Pyke supporters.

Sorry.

It happened again. I haven’t updated in ages. Though it’s no real secret I’m running this ship solo these days and i’ve been a bit preoccupied with other things.  So sadly, these delays may occur BUT i don’t plan on giving up.

Normal posting will return in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Hi everyone,

I say the Basement Birds are touring and then I hear you say, “Yeah Sabi, that was sooo last week!”

So, you already know the news. But maybe, just maybe there’s a few of you who don’t. You know, the ones living under a rock and for those, I present the press release.

Basement Birds – Good Evening & Good Night Tour

Basement Birds are preparing to take their Indie/Folk sound to the masses with their Good Evening & Good Night Tour starting August 12. The first single, ‘Waiting For You’ achieved Single of the Week upon its debut on the Australia iTunes Stores and the powerhouse collective is now set to hit the road for their only National Tour, bringing plenty of special guests and surprises. After debuting their live stylings on Sunrise, Basement Birds did it guerrilla style for Channel [V] in Sydney and performed an amazing cover of The Presets “My People” for Triple J’s Like A Version.

Now they are set to tour with the support of Old Man River. The first four songs are available to buy and download from iTunes, with another two bundles to follow in the lead-up to the tour. Acoustic versions of most of the tracks will also be available exclusively on iTunes over the coming months. In addition to the exclusive iTunes releases, Basement Birds will release a physical album with a bonus, never before heard track! The self-titled album will be available from July 16 through Inertia.

To buy a ticket to see this talented foursome live in their one and only tour together, punters can head to www.basementbirds.com.au where there will be a limited number of tickets available, along with a small number of ticket and album pre-order packages.

Enmore Theatre in Sydney is now all ages.  No restrictions.

In other Basement Birds news (or what’s happened since the last post) and i’ll just do it in dot points because i’ts late and i fear none of this will make sense:

  • First TV appearance – Sunrise (video can be viewed online here)
  • Triple J Like a Version – cover of The Presets’ My People (song can be streamed here)
  • Sydney appearance for Channel [V] Guerilla gig (photos and videos from @jedielf)
  • Announced to play Coaster Festival
  • Released an iTunes Session EP – features acoustic versions of EP tracks and interview (go buy it. now)
  • Basement Birds album is coming. July 16th.

And, according to Josh’s Basement Birds blog – there’s more things to come: June 15th: “This week the BB guys are hitting Sydney again for an appearance on Good News Week, a workshop at the APRA Song Summit,  and a performance at the APRA awards, where we’ll be doing a cover of one of our favourite female Australian artists.”

I hope to bring you some coverage of the tour, especially as i know some of you can’t make it. Nothing’s confirmed yet, so no promises. May just have to do with a review.

In Pyke related news, don’t forget on June 25th  Josh Pyke plays the Go Between Bridge Concert along side the likes of Angus and Julia Stone, Bob Evans, The John Steel Singers, Yves Klein Blue and Robert Forster! For full details go here.

That’s it for now, folks. See you in (an undisclosed amount of time) – haha.
