Celebrating 10 years of Friends of Josh Pyke!

Today marks 10 years of Friends of Josh Pyke.
5 years ago I tweeted the below to Josh. On reading his response I remember thinking “10 years?! Is that even possible?” And yet here we are.
Earlier this week we got to celebrate in style – an intimate live performance and Q+A with Josh Pyke, streamed live to Josh’s Facebook. And guys, I even made my own hashtag #fojpturns10.
With a combined view of over +22K, +580 comments and an audience from all over the world, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate 10 years. A massive special thanks to Josh Pyke & Wonderlick Entertainment for trusting me enough to pull it all together, and to Sony Music Australia for letting us use the Sydney studio.
Our competition winners (and some special guests) included fans from QLD, NSW, VIC & WA. We dined on champagne and doughnuts, heard some questions and some answers, and were treated to a handful of songs and sing-alongs.
The night was a blur, and I spent most of it running around like a headless chook, but a HUGE thank you must go to my excellent helpers on the night – my twin sister Fizz (she flew over from Perth to surprise me) and Gemma & Kim.
A special thank you to every single person I’ve met because of FOJP – Monday night was for you.
And Josh, that comment I made 5 years ago still rings true. Thanks for being the best Australian musician to support. Your unwavering support of FOJP (and all my endeavours outside of it) is really, really appreciated.
It’s really surreal to think Friends of Josh Pyke started when I was a 15-year-old high school student, living in Perth, and talking to people on the internet. Now I’m a 25-year-old, working in the music industry, living in Melbourne, and I’m actually friends with those people I met on the internet. 😉
I’ll leave you with some photos, I’m also working on a video from the night. (But if you missed the live stream, you can go watch it on Josh Pyke’s Facebook page.)
Thanks,
-sabi
