Fans First Tour hits Melbourne
There was a certain kind of energy in the air on Wednesday in Melbourne; maybe it was because Josh Pyke’s fifth album has a chance of debuting at #1 on the ARIA charts or maybe it was the cold front looming.
Having flown into Melbourne a day earlier, Josh was back on the album promo trail. He swung by 774 ABC Melbourne to chat to Jon Faine. Listen to the interview here.
On show day, he headed into the CBD for an in-store performance at JB Hi-Fi. Those able to skip work/university/life commitments were treated to a few songs and a signing.
That night at Bella Union it was Melbourne’s turn for the Fans First tour. The second of four sold out shows. Josh walked on stage to a round of applause. Throughout the night, with his banter on point, he performed an excellent mix of new and old songs.
It’s always a highlight seeing Josh Pyke play live, and it was a great opportunity to hear the new songs live for the first time. But it has to be said; another highlight was getting to meet (or catch up) with so many Josh Pyke fans at the show. What a bunch of legends you all are.
Shout out to photographer Sarah Chav who took some meet & greet photos. They’ll be online shortly. Meanwhile, go check out her other work here.
Chatting to Josh afterwards, it was evident how appreciative he is to have such dedicated supporters. Before we said our goodbyes, we told Josh Pyke we really want his new album to get to number 1 so he did this rap for us.
If you needed another reason to buy his new album tonight this is it. Buy it now.
Until next time,
