And just like that June has arrived! And we know what that means right? The start of Josh Pyke’s Lone Wolf Regional tour! It all begins this Friday with a sold out show in Montrose.

To get you even more excited for the tour, we thought we’d have a quick chat to two of our favourite people, Josh & Jack!

FOJP: Hi JP & Jack! In 2012 the two of you toured together, now you’re about to head out again on the Lone Wolf tour. Can you pick a favourite song from each other’s catalogue?
Josh: Jack! Whats that song of yours about being in Arrowtown in NZ with a girl….love that track….really bitter sweet….can’t remember the name though!
Jack: Oh that one is called “Summer In New Zealand”. Thanks Josh! I have quite a few favourite JP songs… If i had to pick just one at the moment, it would be Silver. There’s a vocal run you were singing on the last tour we did together, at the end of the last chorus. I sing that to myself in the shower all the time.

FOJP: The tour will take you to various regional locations across Australia, is there a particular town or venue you’re most looking forward to?
Josh: I’m really looking forward to heading to Broome as I’ve never been there at all, so to play there will be very cool.
Jack: I’m especially excited for Milton. I’ve never made it to that part of the NSW south coast, but i see “Ulladulla” bumper-stickers all the time.

FOJP: You’re on the road for a while, what songs will soundtrack the long drives?

Josh: I’m imagining a lot of Toto, just singing sweet harmonies to songs like Africa with Jack in the backseat yarning my socks.
Jack: Definitely! And Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”

FOJP: It’s been five years but the White Album Concert is back! Will you be singing the same songs as last time? And do you remember the words to the songs?

Josh: Yep, same songs, with a few extra new ones in the encore section. But it’s hard to change the format much since we have to play that particular record, and we selected the songs really carefully last time, and it worked so well…so pretty much the same show.

FOJP: Josh, there’s talk of you doing an orchestral performance of your songs next year! Of your songs, what would you love to hear with an orchestra?
Josh: Well, I’d love to hear songs like Goldmines and Love Lies with a full orchestral arrangement….fingers crossed i can get it all happening!

FOJP: Jack, we hear you’re currently recording your new album. How’s recording going? And we can expect to hear it?
Jack: Yeah, its been really exciting. It’s 99.9% finished, just getting the last bits and pieces done at the moment. We will have some new music out there really really soon, and the album itself is looking like September.

For a full list of dates, visit Josh’s website. Montrose & Darwin shows have sold out, with an extra Milton show added.

What else has been happening, we hear you ask? Josh has done a stack of interviews in the lead up to the tour including Double JChannel VMusic FeedsABC NationalThe AU Review and Casual Band Blogger. Josh even interviewed Courtney Barnett for Happy.

The Lone Wolf Box Sets are coming, soon! Josh has added some extra footage with the help of Jefferton James, so it’ll be worth the wait! See, Josh has even started signing them!

Josh joined Sarah Blasko & Urthboy on a panel during the Sydney Writers’ Festival last week. You can stream it here. And next Monday June 9th Josh will be speaking at Indent’s Feedback conference. More information .

Extra dates have been added to the White Album Concert. Extra dates in Melbourne and Sydney plus Wollongong and Canberra shows added.

And last week, Josh joined Kate Miller-Heidke on stage for ‘Share You Air’ during her show at the Opera House for Vivid Sydney. We’ll leave you with a snippet uploaded to youtube. Thanks user, AZTECARMADILLO!

Until next time,
